superpowers

In my opinion between the US and the Soviet Union I am on sides with the US. I am for nationalism, and spreading containment. We started by spreading it in the US, and then in Korea. Although we could not get all of the Soviet Union to have nationalism, it was worth a try.
Another reason I am for nationalism is because politics of nationalism strengthened the Civil Rights movement. The Civil Rights movement is very important to me; Everyone should be treated equal. Were all people, and should have the same rights. That is why i am not for the USSR.

Modern Day Analysis

Today in the World of 2010, our nations are still ongoing in cold war. Obama, the president of the United States, and Russia-Dmitry Medvedev have just signed an arms treaty. Together U.S. and Russia hold over 90 percent of the world's nuclear weapons. This treaty agrees that the two nations will reduce the threat of nuclear violence, while bringing them into cooperation with each other.

U.S.A. in the Cold War

The U.S. had a huge role in the war.

Brinkmanship

The Arms Race and the Space Race were apart of brinkmanship. In 1949 the H-bomb was created by J. Robert Openheimer, he was also involved in the building of the A-bomb. The first H-bomb to blow up was on November 1, 1952. A man by the name of John Foster Dulles was willing to go to the brink of war. Dulles was also an anti-communist. At this time Eisenhower and Khrushchev were the leader of the U.S. and the Soviets. And soon the CIA started to get involved, leading the nations to a conference in Geneva. At this meeting Eisenhower proposed the "open skies". The Space Race was also between the super powers in the early 1957. In this year on October Sputnik was launched by Russia. T o which America felt inferior, and launched a satellite right after, U-2. It was a secret launch that went about sputnik, and could took pictures of the other nations. Later on, all ended when the Soviets found out.
